Troy
University’s art department held a student exhibit on April
17.
The exhibit’s title, “The 7 Deadly Sins,” originated
from a joint effort in the Collaborative Studio class.
Each part of the exhibit portrayed one of the seven Biblical sins
and had different pieces of art pertaining to that particular sin.
On the representation of lust, the artist had pictures depicting
nakedness, and for gluttony, the overconsumption of food.
Some parts of the exhibit included verses from the bible where it
refers to God’s wrath.
Each sin -- lust, greed, gluttony, wrath, envy, pride and sloth
-- was portrayed by the art students.
“We wanted them to deal with shapes they usually would not
deal with,” said Pamela Allen, associate professor of art.
“The students chose a common theme and they worked their project
around it,” she added.
Each section of the exhibit was put together by the students.
“This was a forerunner to their final senior thesis,”
Allen said.
The theme from last semester was “Art for the Blind.”
