The Troy University men’s rodeo team started its season off
on a high note, tying for first in the Tennessee Martin Rodeo this
past weekend.
This was the first event for the rodeo team during its spring season.
Senior Erin Bullin and freshmen Mark Weber led the Trojans.
Bullin had the best average time in the steer-wrestling event with
a total time of 12.2 seconds.
Bullin also finished first in the short go event with a time of
4.6 seconds.
Weber did well enough to finish second in the average with a time
of 14 seconds.
In the long go event, Weber finished with a time of 5.2 seconds,
good enough to finish third.
In the short go event, his time of 8.8 seconds gave him a second-place
finish.
Andy Seiler and Zak Dobbins competed in the team roping event.
The team finished first with a total time of 18.7 seconds.
In the short go the team finished with a time of 7.7 seconds to
give it a second-place finish in the round.
The women’s rodeo team also competed in the rodeo and finished
third overall.
Sophomore Jackie Jacobs led the way, finishing in the top three
in all of her events.
Jacobs finished second in the goat-tying event with a total of 15.3
seconds.
Jacobs also finished third in both the long go and the short go.
With times of 7.6 seconds and 7.7 seconds, respectively.
Junior Joy Benedict had a fourth place finish in the barrel racing
with a time of 14.7 seconds.
Benedict also turned in a time of 14.92 seconds that gave her a
sixth-place finish in the short go event.
Her overall average time was 29.62, good enough for a sixth-place
finish.
The Troy rodeo teams will return to action on April 14, when they
compete in the Mississippi State rodeo.
