Troy University

The Student Government Association discussed the following business at its April 21 meeting:

The chair recognized Craig Cross, who is trying to start the Troy Wrestling Club.

Cross went over the constitution of the club and answered questions from senators.

New Business: Senator Laura Rotch moved to approve President Jonathan Davis' appoint merit of Molly Middlebrooks as STARS Coordinator.

The motion was carried.

Senator Mimi Williams moved to bring up the Tobacco-Free Campus Policy.

There was a motion to suspend the rules for discussion of pros and cons.

Senator Michelle Finerty moved to close discussion and reinstate the rules.

Executive Announcements:

President Jonathan Davis asked for volunteers for the night walk scheduled for Thursday night. He also asked if anyone was interested in becoming the historian for the SGA.

Vice President of Campus Activities Morgan Hooper announced Homecoming will be Oct. 24. Senators can be thinking about potential themes for the Homecoming events based on the 100th football season.

She also mentioned that she will be meeting with the Information Technology department about all Troy users' e-mails.

Secretary Kayla Clemons announced the SGA retreat will be Aug. 28 and 29. Senate dues in the amount of $20 should be paid as soon as possible.

Clerk Elizabeth Dowe announced vacancy elections will be held Aug. 26.

Vice President of Legislative Affairs William Filmore went over the dress code for senate meetings.

He also said that no cell phones, food, drink or hats are allowed at senate meetings.

Faculty Adviser Barbara Patterson reminded senators who will be in Troy this summer to stop by the office.
