Troy University

The Student Government Association discussed the following business at its March 31 meeting:

The Academic Life Committee announced the Easter Egg Hunt will be April 8 at 5:30 p.m.

The committee will be delivering flyers to local churches.

The Student Welfare Committee discussed the QEP WeRead program.

The Constitution and Rules Committee announced the pros and cons about skateboarding on campus and have them sent to Dean Herbert Reeves for review.

Alumni Affairs held a Silent Auction for T-Roy raising about $500 for T-Roy's outfit.

The Publicity Committee encouraged senators to hang signs promoting the QEP WeRead program.

In new business:

Senator Bridget Angstadt moved to place the Constitution and Rules of the Greater St. Paul African American Episcopal Church Collegiate Ministry club on docket for next week.

Senator Drew Tatum moved to place the Constitution and Rules of Student Support Service Advisory Council on docket for next week.

Senator Brian Embry moved to place the Constitution and Rules of the Troy Wrestling club on docket for next week.

Senator Ela Rana moved to place Bill 01-09 on docket.

This bill discuses the content of the resources in the Troy University library.

Senator Jimmy Dumas moved to place Bill 02-09 on docket.

This bill suggests extending the hours of several of the dining services on campus.

Senator Rob Drinkard moved to open the floor for the Senator's Choice Award.

Nominations were taken and ballots were cast.

Senator Kaitlin Conway moved to present a resolution about the culture of reading through the Quality Enhancement, WeRead Program.

In executive announcements:

Secretary Morgan Hooper announced the Annual SGA Inauguration and Awards Banquet will be held April 14 at 6 p.m. in the Trojan Center Ballrooms.

The event is semi-formal attire and an RSVP is expected by April 8 to sga.troy.edu.

Cost for the banquet is $20 for those not in student government.

Freshman Forum Directors announced the new Freshman Forum Directors for 2009-2010 are Darreyl Laster and Peyton Dismukes.
